You can’t deny [without being baptized a "hater"] that Diamond Platnumz and Professor Jay
are two among top artists in our land right now. While Diamond has
emerged as one of the best in recent years, Professor Jay is already
considered to be the “legend”. His journey started when parents and
elders still had a different attitude to what was coming up as “music
for the newer generation”. They would only listen as spies trying to
figure out what is going on in their kids’ minds. His hit first single, Chemsha Bongo, changed that stand off between parents and children [youth] It opened doors and minds. The rest is history.
To make matters even hotter, in the year that we just finished [2013]
Professor made it clear that he still got what it takes to remain
Professor. From sharing the stage with Nigeria’s duo P-Square to a
country-wide tour with Kili stars to collaboration with Lady JayDee [
Joto Hasira] etc, he still mean business. Diamond, on the other hand,
had the year that is probably every artist’s dream. From hit singles
such as Number One to international collaboration etc, Diamond gave fans
and music lovers a run for their money and time.
Now,when you hear that these two are in studio for a collaboration,
you are assured of something unique; talents smoothed up with
experience. As if that is not enough, they are in studio with legendary
producer,P-Funk Majani at Bongo Records. P-Funk is one
of the producers I truly love and respect. Over the past and present
years, mee and him have spent hours and hours at his studio
strategizing, listening to music, watching music etc.
Sometimes,I would just sit quiet and watch him with admiration how he
does his work with passion and rare professionalism among many
producers I have had a chance to meet and watch them at work. Majani
loves music and he takes Bongo Fleva/Hip Hop to his heart. He dreams and
fight to see the day whereby all artists [him included] will truly
benefit from the hard work and long hours they put in the studios and
stages.
Back to Professor Jay and Diamond: They are working for Prof’s upcoming single titled Kipi Sijasikia.
Professor, after almost 15 years plus in as a performing artist must
have seen and heard a lot. You can’t argue much with experience. No
wonder we are always reminded to respect our elders. He is now ready to
share his thoughts about “You Heard and Ya Seen” Majani shared the
below clip.Stay tuned.
